Update 10Jul06 from Matthew Good:
For Anthony BonecaThe following was sent to me by Ian Benninghaus, who asked me to post it…

On Sunday, as I’m sure many of you are aware, Canadian Cpl. Anthony Joseph Boneca was killed in action in Afghanistan. I grew up five doors down from Tony and knew him my whole life. Recent headlines on the news report that Defence Minister Gordon O’Connor is dismissing reports that morale is suffering and that Anthony was becoming “disillusioned” with his involvement in the conflict.

  1. I suggest you watch this story very closely for the next couple of days, because I heard something on CBC radio out of Toronto which none of the other media outlets are reporting yet. Apparently he was getting ready to quit the military as soon as he came home at the end of the month because he’d become very unhappy with some of the things that were going on in Afghanistan. They interviewed his family and they were all saying that they were really down about his death because he was anxious to get home. Just for your information, the radio report I heard was on CBC radio and it was around 6:00 – 7:00pm. We’d better not hear that part of the story get silenced.
